I hope the below great pictures. will bring you a lot of good memories! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi western movie fans! In this section, every month I will try to write about one or two B - Western movie stars. Hi B - Western fans, Just a fews words to let you know, that in the next fews days I will post in this section, an article about one of the great B - Western stars, GENE AUTRY. So check often in this special section. So until then ....... Many happy trails from your western performer and Webmaster, Tex Lavalle For the first article I will write about one of my western heros. ![]() Lash Larue (1956) with Tex Lavallee. I'm on the right side of the photo. I know most of you have heard about Lash, but I decided to write about him just the same, hoping it will bring you some thing new. First, I must say that I saw the firt film of Lash Larue in 1947 in my village at the Roxi Theater, If I remember well, the title of this film was "Caravan Trail" in cinecolor It also starred Eddie Dean. It was a very nice B - Western with a lot of action (released as a true P-R-C picture, or if you prefer, Producing Releasing Corporation). I must say that Eddie Dean was already one of my western heros, with other western stars like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, Allen "Rocky" Lane, Monte Hale, and some others of this period. But I find that Lash Larue was a good performer and everytime one of his films were playing at my local theater, I was present. I remember some of his best films like "Ghostown Renagades", "Return of the Lash,", and "Border Feud". Of course it was always funny to see his old sidekick, Al "Fussy" St. John. On the comic side of the film, so as the years past, Lash Larue was recognized as a good B - Western performer. Myself, I was, and still a western performer, with my trick horse; my colt 45, my lasso, and my own western songs. I was doing at that time, what I always desired to do. In 1955 or 1956, it was one late afternoon and I was watching TV, on WCAX, out of Burlington, Vermont, USA. A great guy, name Dusty Boy, was on his western TV show, weekdays, at 5pm. His show was called, "Chuckwagon Tales". That special afternoon the western film shown on his program was "Law of the Lash", starring Lash Larue. During an intermission, Dusty said, "Hi western fans, Lash Larue will be in person at the "Green Mountain Ranch" in Vermount tomorrow". Then I said to myself, "Tex it is the time to meet Lash". The next morning, I jumped in the car and I was on the road to see my western hero. With me that day was my own sidekick, Billy Leonard. We were in the old Packard, with the two son of my brother. Interested to see Lash also was Claude Lavallee. (That was a few years after Bud Lavallee, a musician in my own western band of "Tex Lavallee & the Frontier Ramblers". Bud is still in the music field these days in southtern Quebec with his own band called "The Lavallee Familly, Now to go back to my trip to meet Lash Larue. We arrived at the ranch at noon time, and after having a small dinner, I started to look for my western movie hero. After some time I see a nice blue car comming toward me. I thought it was a Buick, but at my big surprize, it was Lash driving. I said "hi Lash", and he said hello to me with his left handshake. I was at the good place to meet him. I followed his car to the outside stage, were he was coming to perform in about one hour. After some time, I saw him checking everything in preparation for his show. I decided to not talk to him right away. Later, the show began. Boy, Lash was fast on the draw and very good with his bull whip. After the show, I decided that it was time to talk with my western hero. I said "hello Lash", and he turn towards me. We shake hands and we talked for a fews minutes. Then he sold me one nice picture of him with his nice black horse, Black Diamond, and I let him go. We all past the rest of the day at the Green Mountain Ranch, and late in the afternoon I was on my way back home. I dont know if any of you have met Lash Larue, but if you've were lucky enough in the past to meet him, it was certainly a great time for you. Lash Larue past away a fews years back, but he will be remembered for many years to come from all B - Western movie fans. Until next time, Many happy trails from your old Canadian Western Performer and Webmaster, Tex Lavallee See pictures of western stars, Monte Hale below and Roy Rogers with Trigger. Also, a picture of Lash Larue and me, within this article on this page. There's a picture of one of my western films. "BLACK RIVER OUTLAWS" , released and produced by E-T-L Productions in 1956.
